Danish shipping company Maersk has decided to boost its “cloud-first” approach to technology by expanding the use of Microsoft Azure as its cloud platform.
Danish shipping company Maersk has decided to boost its “cloud-first” approach to technology by expanding the use of Microsoft Azure as its cloud platform.
Additionally, the use of machine learning and data analytics will allow Maersk to gain additional insights and support new ways of working, according to the announcement.
Remote Container Management (RCM) is already the result of an existing collaboration between Maersk and Microsoft. This digital solution enables Maersk to monitor the temperature and humidity data of hundreds of thousands of reefers in real time.
Judson Althoff, executive vice president and chief business officer at Microsoft, commented: “Digital technologies are critical for the logistics industry to develop solutions and services that will help build and maintain resilient supply chains.”
He added: “With Azure as Maersk’s strategic cloud platform, Microsoft and Maersk are collaborating to accelerate innovation and digitize the industry to meet customers’ changing needs.”
